Ms. Valente is a skilled trust, estate and wealth transfer planning attorney dedicated to helping individuals and families create thoughtful, effective estate plans that protect their assets, honor their wishes and provide peace of mind. With a warm, collaborative approach, Miki counsels clients through all stages of the planning and administration process, combining deep legal knowledge and technical expertise with a personal understanding of the emotional and practical challenges that often accompany estate planning and administration. Her experience spans a number of related fields, including real property and tax law.

Whether crafting a sophisticated or straight-forward estate plan, or navigating the complexities of multi-generational wealth planning and administration, Miki brings clarity, compassion and steady guidance every step of the way.

Prior to founding MVLaw in early 2008, she was a partner in the Trusts & Estates department of a notable then-Palo Alto based law firm, where she practiced for several years. Additionally, Miki is one of a select few attorneys certified in estate planning, trust and probate law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. She is also a California real estate broker. Miki is a past member of the Kumin Scholars Program administered by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and of the Board of Directors of Blossom Birth, a non-profit education and resource center devoted to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. She is a member of the California, Silicon Valley and Palo Alto Area Bar Associations, and has been admitted to practice before the state courts of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Miki earned her law degree in 1999 at Boston College Law School, where she received the Presidential Scholarship Award. She attended the University of Michigan, graduating with highest distinction (summa cum laude) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature. At the University of Michigan, she was an Angell Scholar, member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and recipient of the Branstrom Prize for academic excellence.

Committed to giving back through community involvement, Miki has volunteered with various organizations, including by hosting workshops on estate planning basics to local community organizations and senior groups. When not practicing law, Miki enjoys running, swimming, live music and comedy, and unwinds with card games and her daily Wordle fix. She treasures time with her children and staying active in ways that bring balance and fun to her life.
